Pad Awareness & Pad Bank
A free Pad Bank at GSTU plus ongoing menstrual health sessions, breaking taboos and making safe menstrual products available to students at no cost.
On the occasion of International Women's Day 2023, a Pad Bank was established at Gopalganj Science and Technology University (GSTU) as a joint initiative of Inspiration for Human Welfare (IHW) and Volunteer for Bangladesh. The Pad Bank provides students with access to sanitary pads completely free of cost.
Dr. Kamruzzaman, Proctor of GSTU, Vice-President of the GSTU Teachers' Association, and an adviser to IHW, inaugurated the Pad Bank at the university's academic building.
The initiative aims to promote menstrual hygiene awareness, ensure access to safe menstrual products, and break the social taboos and stigma surrounding menstruation. As part of this initiative, IHW also distributes sanitary pads free of cost at educational institutions and conducts awareness sessions on menstrual health, hygiene, safety, and proper use of sanitary products.
Through these activities, IHW seeks to create a supportive and informed environment where girls and women can manage menstruation safely, confidently, and with dignity.
